CREATIVE WRITING CAREERS

Outer Space Header

Hey Space Cadets, how’s everyone doing?  I’m doing well, busy editing and wrapping up some annoying work with my medical insurance. Hopefully, this will be the last time I talk about the editing phase book four. I’ve just finished editing book four of The Sleeping Legion Series. I’ve only got to wrap-up the last half of the TEU3 Anthology, and then I start writing my next project.  Ending a series is tougher than I thought; I’ve found I miss the characters as I work on the next project.  Can’t wait to fall in love with the next motley crew I assemble and unleash upon the galaxy! I’m very excited about these new stories, and can’t wait for you to be able to read them.

Recently, I’ve taken to listening to the Creative Writing Careers Podcast on my editing breaks. I’m loving it, it has a fun vibe, and they’re only 30 minutes. I listen to them on my walks, and finish them on my breaks. They’ve interviewed a lot of cool people; Glynn Stewart, Jason Anspach, Nick Cole, Rhett Bruno, CC Ekeke, and many more.  If you love listening to authors talking about how the sausage is made, then check it out.  I was recently interviewed by them as well, which you can find here.  I tried not to sound too much like a buffoon, but I make no promises, and your mileage may vary. Give it a listen, and if you enjoy their content, you should rate them on iTunes or wherever you download them from.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now!  I hope you’re doing well and I can’t wait to finish my editing so I can get back to writing. Hopefully, I’ve learned from the fiasco that book four was in its rough draft.  I definitely want to give you a better product, onwards and upwards after all!

Until next time, stay frosty and don’t forget to keep your powder dry!

J.R. Handley

J.R. Handley is a pseudonym for a family writing team. He is a veteran infantry sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division and the 28th Infantry Division. His family is the kind of crazy that interprets his insanity into cogent English. He writes the sci-fi while they proofread it. The sergeant is a two-time combat veteran of the late unpleasantness in Mesopotamia where he was wounded, likely doing something stupid. He started writing military science fiction as part of a therapy program suggested by his doctor, and hopes to entertain you while he attempts to excise his demons through these creative endeavors. In addition to being just another dysfunctional veteran, he is a stay-at-home parent, avid reader and all-around nerd. Luckily for him, his family joins him in his fandom nerdalitry.
