Hey, Space Cadets, how are you doing this fine day?  I’m doing great, had an awesome walk and trying to get back into the routine of healthy living. Hopefully, life cooperates so I can continue my exercise routine, but ultimately family first.  I’m at chapter 80 of 88 with book four, which doesn’t yet have a name.  I intentionally keep my wife and kids in the backdrop, since they deserve their privacy and anonymity.  However, if you’ve read this blog you’ll know that my wife is recovering from a car accident and my son is having a tough go of it. Hey Space Cadets, how’re you doing today?  I’m fine, working on the editing my final Sleeping Legion novel and dealing with some family medical issues that are slowing me down.  Not the kind of stuff that needs airing, as it isn’t my laundry, but it’s been a slight roadblock for me. I made myself a promise when I started that writing wouldn’t get in the way of my family time and right now that has been a priority.  I will still push ahead editing this, and I’m over halfway through this major revision.  I think Boss Man and I are on the same page with the book now, and specifically how we link my series back into his.  So, let’s push past the dreary realities of life and talk about writing! FAMILY TIME

Tranquility 4JR HandleyHey Space Cadets, how’re ya’ll doing on this fine day?  I’m doing great, working hard on edits for a short story and book four!  I’m excited to see how the story ends before moving on to the next project. During this time, when I don’t have deadlines beating me about the head and shoulders, I took some family time.  Took my bride on the date to Red Lobster, killed my diet and one meal, and generally have been having a blast! Okay, I know that some people might suggest that it’s a little low rent, but chain restaurants are budget friendly. Maybe if the next book sells like hotcakes, I’ll try a “real” seafood place.  I’m told that I’m a bad representation of the Tidewater Region of Virginia because I’ve never had lobster.  Eventually, I will fix this, but only after we keep the power on! Hey Space Cadets, how’s everyone doing today?  I’m doing amazing, taking a bit of time to spend with my family.  I’m also working on a couple of short stories, while I wait for my edits to come back.  If you haven’t read my previous post, my fourth book is finished and sent to the editor.  Hope they aren’t too busy with their red pen!  For those who haven’t already read my series, feel free to read The Sleeping Legion Series so you will be ready for the fourth book!  Then I will be working on my next super-secret project.  I can’t wait to tell you about it.  Now on to today’s blog – our SciFy Shenanigans Interview with Nick Cole.

Let’s get right to the point of my latest blog posting, interviewing Nick Cole!  Yes, I’ve gotten bit JR in Weedsby the interview bug!  I’ve started the Warrior Weekend Series, the Family Friday Series, and now the ‘SciFy Shenanigans’ series that only serves to talk with other authors of science fiction!  Here goes nothing!

The Sleeping Legion is Awake!!

JR HandleyHey Space Cadets!  Today I get to make the happy announcement – I finished the fourth and final book of the Sleeping Legion Series! I sent it to Boss Man and my editor on July 12th, and I couldn’t be happier.  This book will link the Sleeping Legion back into the main body of the Human Legion, though I can’t say more than that upon pain of death from Boss Man!  Surprisingly, I feel a little sad that it’s all over. I’ve been with these characters, and this universe, since I signed the contract with Boss Man in August 2015.  If the audience wants it enough, there will be the follow-on series, The Sleeping Fleet, but that one is up in the air at the moment.  I guess you could say the Sleeping Legion is now awake?  Anyway, I’ll be working on the edits, finalizing the name and cover, before moving on to the next project. More about that to come!
