Hey Space Cadets, how’re y’all doing today? I am doing fine – laughing with my family about the Area 51 mime. Which got me to thinking – not that is not my brain smoking… where was I? Oh yes, I got to thinking it would be great to do an Area 51 Anthology. So, after talking to my admin staff (you know the wife) we decided to go for it. So below you will see the details of my call for short stories for this anthology.
Title: Storming Area 51 (Tentative)
- Can’t Stop All of Us
- Storming Area 51
- Siege of Freedom
Cover Designer: Jamie Glover
Editor: TBD
Submission Due Date: August 1, 2019
Story Acceptance Date: August 10, 2019
Anthology Editing Date: TBD
Projected Publication Date: September 20, 2019
Revision of Rights: 1 year after publication, then anthology will be pulled out of KU and non-exclusive rights return to author.
Requirements: 6,000 – 10,000 words – an original, unpublished story
Publisher: Bayonet Books Publishing
Concept: A short story inspired by the memes surrounding the planned storming of Area 51 – science fiction or fantasy are fine but we want plenty of action and adventure. Lots of probing questions about aliens are expected, with plenty of room for things to go belly up.
We will be accepting a limited number of submissions via open call. Please submit stories in Word (.doc or .docx are both fine), 12pt Times New Roman, double spaced, single space after a period. Indicate a scene break with three asterisks, centered, with a space in between, like this: *** Nothing else! Preface your story with your name, the title, your email address, and the word count as well as a short blurb.
If your story is chosen, we will send you a contract that spells out all of these details. Once the rights revert to you, we’ll pull the eBook out of Kindle Unlimited, however, they’ll still be available in both eBook and paperback.
Please send all submissions to Bayonet Books Publishing at this email address: jrhandley@jrhandleyinc.com
The subject line should have Area 51 story submission followed by your name: ex: Area 51 story submission, Bill Author.
Again, please preface your story with your name, the title, your email address, and word count. All of this makes your story easier to read and edit, and then quickly format for publication. Also, a short blurb for your story.
Until next time, stay frosty and don’t forget to keep your powder dry!

Can we use the word “Naruto” in our writing or will we get copyrighted?

It is all over the news, so we should be okay using it. I did in my story!

Just mention they’re cosplaying the character and NOT the character, I think that is the line.
